I've watched this everyday since a buddy of mine sent it to me. Time to get moving.

I've had this poster for about 14 years.

I'm sad to say I've received news that director Irvin Kershner has past away. Kershner expanded upon George Lucas's Star Wars universe by directing The Empire Strikes Back. The depth of influence this movie has had on my life is almost indescribable. I lived in a room littered in Star Wars action figures, banks, posters, folders, stickers, notebooks, pillows, blankets and just about everything else you can think of for almost the entirety of my childhood. If i wasn't drawing I was marauding the galaxy with my Boba Fett toy.

Kershner showed the world a side of the Star Wars universe that had been previously unseen. The film has a fun and immediately engaging tone yet is quite menacing at the same time. The pinacle of the dichotomy achieved in the film is the fact that, for the first time that I had seen at age seven, the bad guys win. I wish more writers/directors had the gall to allow such things to happen in their creations. Rest in peace Mr. Kershner!

A Conversation Among Friends

Feelin' Good

Just came back from the lab after working for a a very productive 13 hours. I must say that I am an exceptionally fortunate person to be able to do what I love without opposition. Unlike some long hauls in the animation lab, today I was really on it. Managed to finalize my product for the last step. I've no doubt that my friends, family and good music are to blame. Combined, these elements produce a limitless reservoir of energy to feed on. I'd love to show some updates, but I promised myself I wouldn't make anymore posts on this project until it's finished. 21 years in the making! It's 6 am, and I don't remember when I slept last. I should probably go get on that.

Being away at school for four years has really made me realize the definition of home.

A Promise I'll Break Later

I've been pretty lazy on updating the blog with my new drawings, but I'll put some up tomorrow when I'm not dead tired. This Saturday has been a day I've been looking forward to for quite sometime. Nonstop drawing from morning till the next morning! I've been doing more drawing than writing, however, and I really should be getting this comic draft done sooner than later. But that is what Sundays are for. I'll probably upload some assignments from my Narrative Ink Class. I don't think I've posted any of the work from that class yet, and I've done some pretty new things. Currently my projects at hand are:

- Self Portrait
- Comic Script Completion
- 2 Field Museum Watercolors
- Comic Character Designs
- Comic Landscape/Setting Designs
- Hatching studies

Hopefully by next Sunday something on the list will actually be completed. Maybe even two or three things. Four would be awesome. The sandman's callin.

My Summer To Do List

So, my mom has always told me that the best way to stay on top of your stuff is to be organized. So, if I'm gonna be organized, I gotta organize my head first. Right? Right. This is a list of everything I hope to get accomplished this summer. Since I will have a lot of time on my hands, it will be good to complete some tasks/ goals that I've had on the back burner for some time. If you know me, then you know you've gotta take the geekiness in stride with the serious. This list is no different.

(This isn't listed according to priority. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.)

1. Build a glass display case for my models.

I've got a lot of Transformers, new and old, collecting dust along with all the other giant robots I have collected over the years. I wanted to just buy a display case, but they are way to expensive, and I'm supposed to be an artist, so why not make it myself?

2. Collect writings together and make something useful.

I've been writing off and on lately. A lot of babble about balance and how I have observed things during the course of my 21 years of living. I'm taking a visual, critical studies class this summer, so maybe the writings from that class will give my other writings more direction, or maybe they'll become one huge big writing!

3. Build a spray booth.

This is probably the most outrageous sounding thing on the list. Luckily for me its the easiest and cheapest. So, I love my new high rise apartment. It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL, however, there is a slight problem. There's nowhere for me to spray paint all my models and stuff! Luckily while living in the dorm I had 24 hour access to the spray room. But those days are long gone, so it's time to fix that lil' issue.

4. Sell and make some 'real' art!

The pursuit of a career based on technology has taken its toll on the artistic side of my brain. It is my goal this semester to get back in touch with that lost part of myself that got me to where I am today. Drawing used to be an astronomically huge part of my life, and I miss it dearly. I feel that getting back in touch with my more immediate, creative side will do an enormous amount of good. Besides, making art via digital means is just too easy. You just click some shit and bingo, you got a whole project. It's time to invest some SERIOUS hours on this goal o' mine.

5. Be more active!!

This is the self-help part of my blog that you didn't know was coming! No I just need to go outside more. But, this will be ten times easier once I stop computering my soul away. I swear all these renders and animations have taken years off my life! They should put a warning label on animation before you start doing it.

6. Buy a lottery ticket!

Must do that.

So, I'm stuck in Michigan waiting to go to Japan with nothing but time, so i figured why not. Figured I'd upload some pics from the beach.

Ride Wit No Tints So They Know It's Me!!

I've been kinda bored while I've been home for the summer from school, so I decided to pick up this book on sale at Barnes and Noblee. It rocks!! It's front to back crests. How sick!
