Anatomy Journal Excerpts

During college I was unable to take an proper anatomy class due to scheduling conflicts. In an attempt to rectify this, I started an anatomy journal for personal reference. My current project requires a much more comprehensive anatomical prowess that what I currently have. Hopefully by following in the footsteps of the Old Man I will be able to push myself, and my work, much farther than I have before.

I've Been a Bad Blogger Lately..

I have to apologize for being digitally MIA over the last month. I've relocated to Michigan and am currently working on pieces for two shows I have coming up in St. Louis. I'll have some new pics soon. I think this was the last thing I drew.. I'm not even sure anymore.

Sculpt Changes

Haven't be able to work on the project as much as I'd like to due to unsuccessful job hunting but I've decided to make some changes to my pisspoor designs.

Edited the post for a more updated multiangle view of the sculpt.

2010 Demo Reel With Breakdown

D.E.M.O. from Mike DuPree on Vimeo.

> The D.E.M.O. project was designed to illustrate my technical and artistic skills.

> All shaders, models and artwork were created by me exclusively.

> Maya, Adobe Photoshop and After Effects were used to construct this project.

> Mental Ray DGS and MIA materials were predominately used to gain a more realistic distribution of light.

> Area lights were also used with photons and global illumination to aid in the distribution of light within the space.

> Ambient occlusion, specular light map and depth of field render passes were composited in post to illustrate a more engaging depiction of space.

> Watercolor paintings were produced through live observational studies from the Field Museum in Chicago.

D.E.M.O.

An excerpt from my current project D.E.M.O. (Digitally Enhanced Mechanical Optics) gallery. Tried to give everyone something hi res this time that they could keep. Go ahead, and set it as your desktop if you'd like (sorry it's a crappy jpeg). A present to my audience that I am so gracious to have.

Slick With the Slime

Just a watercolor update. This one is about 85% done, I guess. Just have to finish up the body near the top. From now on, I'm just going to use numbers. I like numbers.
