Mission Accomplished

What is that?

IT'S A GUNDAM!!!
My inner 6 year old was seizing at this point.

I'm not totally sure how many people shot me the link for the real life Gundam, but it had to be at least 10 people. I think it's funny that people think there is anyway in hell that a real Gundam could be built without me knowing. However, I do appreciate the support. LOL! I've known about this thing for several months now, but on June 26th. I saw a real Gundam. I really don't know how much of the awesomeness I can express through words, but believe me. That thing is sooooooo sweet!! 35 Tons of Gundam standing like 65 feet tall T___T

Let There Be Models!

Lots of people have been asking me to start posting up videos/tutorials/documentation of my process of model building. Unfortunately, this is not what this post is; however, while I've been in Japan, I've been lucky enough to pick up lots of good modeling supplies for really cheap! I've still got two transformers I need to paint before I get started on anything else. I also have classes to tend to this summer.... -__-

Saved the Best For Last

So, I'm in Tokyo now, and all I can say is WOW! This city isn't as graceful as Osaka, but it damn sure has a lot of stuff to do. I'm just going to throw up pics now. I'll write more later.

We were lucky enough to be given a tour of the Tokyo University of Art. These are two of the schools professors presenting their works in laqucer. I can't describe how awesome these were in person.

I believe this is part of a movie theater
I sat and watched it rain for a good 20 minutes. So rad.

Post Kyoto

I've been staying in Tokyo for the last two days after a short stay in Kyoto. I must say that the two cities couldn't be more different from one another. Kyoto was a much more reserved town that seemed to know how to take its time.

Osaka ga suki des.

After just a few day in Osaka, I can say that this is one of the most impressive cities I have had the opportunity to visit. Despite the language difference, it's still amazing to see how people from all over can still sit down and enjoy a drink and a laugh together. There seems to be a willingness of the natives here to reach out in conversations that I've never seen in any other country. In one day, I will be leaving Osaka, and I can honestly say that I will truly miss this city.

Konichiwa

Well, I've finally made it to japan in one piece. I'm sitting in my hotel room watching some animation by Akira Toriyama that I've never seen before. I'll be going out all over Osaka today at 10 am. I'll throw up a few pics from the trip over.

I think we were actually in outer space at one point..
This is the terminal in Shanghai. Pretty sweet architecture.
And finally, a snap shot of my taxi ride to the hotel in Osaka.

Sculpture in the Works.

This is just a quick screen shot of a little something I'm working on for fun. Nothing fancy just yet.

New Logo Design

After talking to Dennie about his logo animation, I was coerced into creating one for myself. This is just the model of the text itself. I have no idea what I actually want it to do yet. Something overly complicated would be nice. Stay tuned.

Many more to come.

What Gives - Google!

I was researching for a project today, nothing special whatsoever, and the most RIDICULOUS crap came up in the search suggestions panel on Google. Why did I get married!?
Geez! This seems like a good representation of what Americans deem important. Why did Chris Brown beat up what's her face?? Really? Useless.

More iPod

Snapping pics at red lights is kind of invigorating. Maybe that's not the right word. It'll do for now.

Ghetto of the Mind

I can't put into words how DOPE this beat is! I know I'm not supposed to be taking pics while I'm driving, but i was at a red light. Thank you Lord for those 3 minutes of goodness.

My Summer To Do List

So, my mom has always told me that the best way to stay on top of your stuff is to be organized. So, if I'm gonna be organized, I gotta organize my head first. Right? Right. This is a list of everything I hope to get accomplished this summer. Since I will have a lot of time on my hands, it will be good to complete some tasks/ goals that I've had on the back burner for some time. If you know me, then you know you've gotta take the geekiness in stride with the serious. This list is no different.

(This isn't listed according to priority. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.)

1. Build a glass display case for my models.

I've got a lot of Transformers, new and old, collecting dust along with all the other giant robots I have collected over the years. I wanted to just buy a display case, but they are way to expensive, and I'm supposed to be an artist, so why not make it myself?

2. Collect writings together and make something useful.

I've been writing off and on lately. A lot of babble about balance and how I have observed things during the course of my 21 years of living. I'm taking a visual, critical studies class this summer, so maybe the writings from that class will give my other writings more direction, or maybe they'll become one huge big writing!

3. Build a spray booth.

This is probably the most outrageous sounding thing on the list. Luckily for me its the easiest and cheapest. So, I love my new high rise apartment. It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL, however, there is a slight problem. There's nowhere for me to spray paint all my models and stuff! Luckily while living in the dorm I had 24 hour access to the spray room. But those days are long gone, so it's time to fix that lil' issue.

4. Sell and make some 'real' art!

The pursuit of a career based on technology has taken its toll on the artistic side of my brain. It is my goal this semester to get back in touch with that lost part of myself that got me to where I am today. Drawing used to be an astronomically huge part of my life, and I miss it dearly. I feel that getting back in touch with my more immediate, creative side will do an enormous amount of good. Besides, making art via digital means is just too easy. You just click some shit and bingo, you got a whole project. It's time to invest some SERIOUS hours on this goal o' mine.

5. Be more active!!

This is the self-help part of my blog that you didn't know was coming! No I just need to go outside more. But, this will be ten times easier once I stop computering my soul away. I swear all these renders and animations have taken years off my life! They should put a warning label on animation before you start doing it.

6. Buy a lottery ticket!

Must do that.

It's Whatever You Want It To Be

This is a photograph shot by my favorite photographer, the Hubble Telescope! This literally looks like whatever you want it to look like. I think it looks like a face or a ninja. Grace thinks it looks like a tiger. It kind of looks like Africa too. Ninjas, tigers or Africa . . .all have no business in outer space! How inspiring.
